TJNA is a membership-based organisation that brings together 44 organisations spread across 26 African countries. Its continued growth and day-to-day operations are coordinated through a secretariat domiciled in Nairobi, Kenya.
Our rich and diverse membership consists of independent organisations collectively enriching the network’s strengths and capacities to scale-up tax justice advocacy in Africa. They include research organisations, trade unions, feminist organisations, national and regional network organisations, and faith and community-based organisation.
TJNA’s footprint on the continent is as follows:
- Eastern Africa: Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Sudan, South Sudan, Mauritius
- Southern Africa: Zambia, South Africa, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Mozambique
- Western Africa: Ghana, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Nigeria, Benin, Togo, Cote d'Ivoire, Niger, Guinea, Liberia
- Central Africa: Cameroon, Democratic Republic of Congo
- Northern Africa: Tunisia, Egypt.
Membership Criteria
TJNA has an evolved membership structure that takes into account the different realities of prospective members who work directly on tax justice as well as within the larger ecosystem.
To join the network, your organisation should meet the following conditions
- Be non-profit institutions with a proven record of contributing to development issues relevant to the network’s objectives
- Have legal identity and governance structures in publicly available documents
- Be willing to and have the capacity to organise, support and champion activities , campaigns etc. geared towards achievement of TJNA’s objectives
- Be willing to join and support National Tax Justice movements, alliances and coalition and commit to promoting national tax justice agenda
- Embody TJNA’s Vision, Mission, Values and adhere to TJNA’s Code of Conduct
- Be willing to pay the annual membership subscription fee

Tax Justice Network Africa facilitates platforms for its members to engage in the agitation for collective impact through increased and strengthened capacity in expertise, knowledge, influence, and skills at different levels. In return, members bring to the network national and regional socio-political and economic perspectives and contexts that enrich the network’s collective value proposition.

Application process
- Step 1: Complete an online application form on the link below.
- Step 2: The 1 st screening process begins (will include zoom meetings, requests for supporting documentation e.t.c)
- Step 3: Successful organisations meeting the criteria undergo further screening by the relevant sub-committee before final review and approval by the executive council
- Step 4: Successful members receive membership notification status.
- Step 5: The onboarding process begins.
